School board members are locally elected public officials entrusted with governing a community's public schools. As the policy-making body of the Claremont Unified School District, the Board of Education was elected by the community to provide leadership and citizen oversight of the district. The Board shall ensure that the district is responsive to the values, beliefs, and priorities of the community, and shall work with the Superintendent to fulfill its major responsibilities.

In 2022, Claremont Unified School District transitioned from an "at-large" method of electing board members to a by-trustee area election. Although board members are elected by trustee area, each board member serves the entire community and supports all schools in CUSD.

Meetings and Notices: Pursuant to Board Bylaw 9320, the Board shall hold two regular meetings each month, except in the months of January, April, and July. Regular meetings shall be held at 5:30 p.m. at the District office on the first and third Thursdays unless otherwise specified. The Board shall hold one regular meeting in each of the months of January and April to fall on the third Thursday of the month and shall forego regular meetings during the month of July unless otherwise specified.

Agendas for regular board meetings are posted 72 hours in advance. It is highly recommended to refer to the posted meeting agenda for location and start time as these might have changed.
